My sister Kathryn and her family are being supported in lots of ways by Kirkwood Hospice as Kathryn's cancer has returned so cruelly. 

I have signed up to cycle the sportive billed as the toughest in Europe. Apart from the fact that I have never cycled 312 kilometres (almost 200 miles) in one day there is also 20000 feet of climbing involved.  

My aim is to raise £3 per kilometre I ride to help Kirkwood Hospice help people like Kathryn and her husband Mark.
