We support better mental health in Somerset to anyone in the community

Story

On May 12th 2019, myself, Darren Kneeshaw & Simon Autton will set off on a journey, cycling 1000 miles from John O'Groats to Land's End. The reason behind this huge challenge is to raise money and awareness for a mental health charity called MIND . MIND offers advice and support to people affected by mental health problems.

In March 2018 my son Carl took his own life at the age of 24. Carl was a Sous Chef at The Castle Hotel in Taunton where he was much loved by all the team he worked with. Carl was a kind, patient and caring young man with a wicked sense of humour.

Sadly 79% of men that die between 18 and 40 years of age will do so from suicide. On average this is 84 men in the UK a week.

In the aftermath of losing Carl ,myself and Darren set ourselves this challenge . We are well in to our training now, which involves evenings and every weekend.

I would like to thank all friends, family and businesses that have shown myself and my family support . One particular person we would like to thank is Michael Stewart who will be driving the support vehicle and providing much needed supplies along the way .Michael works for a company who's chosen charity for 2018 is MIND. So therefore they will be matching any money we raise pound for pound.

Please continue to support our CALM your MIND ride 2019 and raise awareness and much needed funding for the prevention of suicide. Please like and share our page , where we will be updating you on our training .
