Story

Well....

Nearly 4 years ago I lost a friend. And it was a terrible loss. She died on the way home from dinner on the evening of 6/6/2008. Asthma attack - heart stopped - dead. Simple as that.

My best memory of her was perhaps the house party we had at 'Dulverton Palace'. We got drunk. We played pass the leftover food, we drank sailor jerry's (before they ruined it) we wore foil hats, and I got tied to a bed by a gaggle of drunk women. It was a good party. Me and Burt decided we would go to the shop to get more fags, which would have been a five minute walk for normal people, but we ended up in a bar, drinking brandy with me serenading her wearing pink tinted glasses.

After much laughing we arrived back at the party with armfuls of beer and vodka and we carried on laughing. She was a loopy girl, and absolutely hilarious. And I'll always remember the cool times we spent together, even if they were brief.

Fast forward to now, and my friend Char (Burts best friend ever) has gone on an absolute mission of fundraising and cupcake making, of charm creating to bowl making. She's on a crusade. You can read all about it here: http://bitsyscrusade.blogspot.com/

She, along with the memory of Burt, have inspired me to raise as much sponsorship as I can doing various silly things. First up is Tough Mudder (toughmudder.co.uk) which, if I raise enough, I said I would complete wearing a thong and bow tie.

Next, is a climb up Snowdon, then later in the year the Three Peaks challenge, both of which I will attempt alone. After that I plan a skydive, and hopefully in the next year or so, a trip to Everest base camp. We will see...

I'll be honest: these things don't scare me, they are things I have wanted to do for some time, but have never had the get up and go to actually... well, do. So I said I'd do them in honour of Burt, because it'll give me a reason to get up and do silly things again.

I shouldn't need a reason, but I can't think of a better one than helping people and raising money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (www.c-r-y.org.uk)

So that's it. I'm not much of a writer, so forgive me if this is a bit messy. It's all about doing stuff for a laugh, and raising money along the way.

So get your wallets cracking open and see my hairy white arse!
