This is our annual sponsored walk to remember my son, Charlie who would have been 25 years old this year, on 21st June.

Charlie was born 6 weeks premature and was transferred from Eastbourne Hospital to the Trevor Mann Baby Unit, Brighton within hours of his birth. I was also transferred with him and spent the next traumatic 3 weeks watching him fight for his life. Having spent many hours in the Unit, I saw the dedication, hard work and tireless energy of the nurses and doctors who tried their best to save him. They were so kind to us at such a horrendous time, showed so much sympathy and support, I sat for hours with nurses talking about my guilt and wondering why it had happened. Sadly Charlie didn't make it, he passed away in my arms at 3 weeks old, but I am forever grateful for everything the amazing staff did to help him.

Around the time of what would have been his 10th Birthday, my Dave suggested instead of the sadness to turn it round to do something positive, and said he would walk if I organised it. So our annual sponsored walk started with around 6 walkers, over the years we have raised over £10,000 for The Early Birth Association supporting the Trevor Mann Baby Unit. We always have the walk around the time of Charlie's birthday.
