Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) is a long-term (chronic) fluctuating illness that causes symptoms affecting many body systems, more commonly the nervous and immune systems. Defined by the World Health Organisation as neurological, M.E. affects an estimated 250,000 people in the UK, and around 17 million people worldwide.
People with M.E. experience severe, persistent fatigue associated with what's called post-exertional malaise (the body’s inability to recover after expending even small amounts of energy; sometimes also called ‘payback’) and chronic pain. However, M.E. is also characterised by a range of additional symptoms. AT PRESENT THERE IS NO CURE !!!!!
The charity Invest in ME Research gives hope to bedbound severe sufferers, some of who will die as a result of muscle weakness - the heart is a muscle, the epiglotis is a muscle, breathing is a muscular activity.
Make no mistake, this illness has and will continue to take lives. Your donation and my antics can help find the illusive cure.
