Story

~ Hello! My name's Shani. I came into the care of Oldies Club, a small volunteer-run charity that rescues and rehomes older dogs in the UK, towards the end of April 2017.

Update Nov 2017: Thank you again to those who have donated to Shani's page. We have updated the fundraising goal to £5,441.61 for her vet bills.

Update 11 June 2017: Firstly, thank you so much to everyone who has donated to this page already, to help Oldies Club pay for my rather large vet bills. We've had to increase the overall total today to £4,206.44 as I have had an ultrasound and an endoscopy this week so that the vets can try to work out what is causing my tummy troubles. *Don't read if you're eating* but in addition to the worrying lump I had to have removed, I have also been suffering from ongoing diarrhea since I arrived in Oldies Club care, something the vet believes is a problem I've experienced for a long while. We now have to await the results of this most recent biopsy to see how it may be possible to help me in this regard.

Update 21 May 2017: I had my surgery a few days ago. I am back recovering in my lovely foster home. The vets thankfully managed to remove all of the lump, but Oldies Club now has to await the results, which it should receive in a few days. Fingers and paws crossed for the best possible news, please!

With the surgery came a further vet bill of £2050.33, so the fundraising goal of this page has been updated to reflect that. Thank you so much to everyone who has already donated. If anyone can contribute to the additional costs, Oldies Club would be very grateful indeed.

Unfortunately, just after arriving in rescue, the vet discovered a lump on my chest and she suggested a biopsy to see what it was.

I had the biopsy last week and sadly the results came back this week - the lump is a soft tissue sarcoma :-( I had a consultation yesterday (11 May) and I am scheduled to have surgery next week.

Oldies Club is already facing a bill of over £500 for me and that's before I have even had the surgery! It would be great if you could donate whatever you can spare to help the charity with these costs. We'll update the page again after my surgery and advise of the new fundraising total when we can. Please send good thoughts my way. I'm looking forward to being through the surgery and back at my lovely foster home while I recover.

Please donate whatever you can spare, because every donation is appreciated and it all adds up to help Oldies Club take care of me and continue its rescue work. Please share with your dog-loving family, friends etc. too.

Thank you.

Love,

Shani and the volunteers at Oldies Club

Should Oldies Club supporters be generous enough to donate more than is needed for my vet bills/care, any excess money will be directed to the charity’s general fund and used to help other older dogs in its care.
