This August, Team Swimhalers, a two man team made up of Phil Couch and Dave Shephard, will swim from England to France across the mighty English Channel in aid of Asthma UK.
Every 10 seconds someone is having a potentially life-threatening asthma attack in the UK. Every day, the lives of three families are devastated by the death of a loved one to an asthma attack, and tragically two thirds of these deaths are preventable.
People come from all over the world to tackle the "Everest" of swimming - the English Channel.
21 miles as the crow flies becomes a daunting 30 plus miles with tides and currents. Add jellyfish, freezing water temperatures, gargantuan shipping containers and pollution, this is one of the greatest challenges in any sport.
Swimhalers & Antonia’s Friends:
Antonia Thomas tragically lost her life at just 10 years old to asthma. Antonia was a bright, funny, beautiful, energetic young girl who had been diagnosed with mild asthma, yet died from an attack in under 10 minutes.
Swimhalers / Antonia’s Friends, will be raising money for Asthma UK, a British charity working to stop asthma attacks and cure asthma altogether. 1 in 11 people in the UK has asthma and every ten seconds someone has a potentially life-threatening attack.
Antonia's Friends want to fundraise over £10,000 for this extremely important cause.
