On 17th June 2017 I will be doing a 1 mile open swim in the Great East Swim Event (http://www.greatrun.org/great-swim/great-east-swim) in aid of PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide.
I am doing this in memory of my 15 year old daughter Claire, who lost her battle with mental health on 22 March 2013.
Suicide is the leading cause of death in young people up to
the age of 35. Every year over 6000 young men & women take their own life and up to 10x this number make a suicide attempt.
PAPYRUS is a charity committed to supporting those in crisis
and thinking of taking their own life, along with supporting those affected by suicide or who are worried about somebody they know. The organisation offers support via Phone, text or chat to anybody who needs it, specifically those under the age of 35 and can provide support and advice by trained mental health professionals.
PAPYRUS believes that:
Many young suicides are preventable
No young person should suffer alone with thoughts or feelings of hopelessness
No one should have to go through the heartbreak
of losing a loved one to suicide
Everyone can play a role in preventing young suicide
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page and read my story, if you have chosen to support PAPYRUS and donate, THANK YOU.
