Our story begins with Lucy. A 33 year old wife, mother of two cheeky boys and friend to many. Just over two years ago Lucy's heartburn symptoms got so bad she took herself off to A&E and after an emergency endoscopy, discovered she had stomach cancer which was unexpected and seldom seen in someone so young and healthy. After several weeks of chemo, Lucy underwent some serious surgery to remove her whole stomach and part of her oesophagus. She spent several months in recovery, but her determination and strength pulled her through and she spent a short while living a 'normal' life free from cancer. Unfortunately in the last week, Lucy has been told her cancer has returned, but this time it is inoperable. Her future is uncertain, but again, being much younger than most previous patients there are few comparative cases, so Lucy has not given up hope just yet. With the support of her family and friends, she aims to take this head on and starts her first session of chemotherapy on 13th January, which will last for approximately 12 weeks. Whilst Lucy is going through hell with her treatment, 'Team Lucy' will be going through intensive physical training to prepare for one of the toughest challenges the UK has to offer!

Update 18/04/2016

So we have now achieved our target! Thank you to everyone that has donated, it really has been an emotional roller-coaster. It's just under two weeks till the challenge now, we're all a bit apprehensive but raring to go and looking forward to it! (In a weird way!)

Lucy's update is that although chemotherapy wasn't successful, she is now going through radiotherapy. Please join us in wishing Lucy all the best with this new form of treatment and hoping it does the trick! Lucy is a strong fighter and continues to amaze us all. Keeping our fingers and toes crossed for her xx
