Here’s the lowdown on what we’re up to…


THE CAUSE:

The Teenage Cancer Trust; a charity established to transform hospital wards into suitable environments for teenagers. At a tough time in their lives the TCT has been making it possible since 1990 for young people to be around patients of the same age who are going through the same thing. Before the charity was established you spent the time in an awkward place, often with much older patients or young children. Now there are 28 units spread across the NHS, dedicated to specialist support, all across the UK. And with some extra help they can do even more.

THE CHALLENGE:

Welcome to the Dumball rally! The extreme fancy dress challenge...on wheels.

The rules are simple: fly out to Mexico City, choose a fancy dress theme, and spend 24 hours decorating an old VW Beatle and yourselves accordingly. Then all you have to do is drive 3000km, crossing deserts, mountains and jungles before arriving in sunny Acapulco.

Dumball may be an act of high adventure and sublime stupidity, but most importantly it's also a way to raise awareness and plenty of money for a wonderful charity.

After last year's success Team Gold returns as we embark on a mad quest for 'El Dorado' (which is a lot like gold...but in Spanish). Once again we shall be voyaging through foreign lands in a gold car, golden clothes and hopefully having raised plenty of money for a very good cause.


FUNDRAISING (where you come in!):

First things first. All the travel, accommodation, food, partywear, spray paint, petrol, visas and everything else Dumball-related is paid for by us. Not a penny you donate will pay for the trip; it ALL goes straight to the TCT to continue their great work.

We’ve set ourselves an ambitious target, and a host of weird and wonderful challenges to raise the money. So, if you can support us, even if you only have a small amount to spare, together we can make a huge difference.
