We fund long-term, sustainable research to find a cure for brain tumours

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

In the space of little over a year, our fundraising team (myself, Adie Laird, David Nicolson, Philip Wilson, and Emma Bent) have lost two of our best friends - and in Emma's case, her husband - to brain tumours.

Phil and Andy were popular and successful young men who had their whole lives ahead of them, and their deaths in December 2016 and January 2018 respectively have left a huge hole in the lives of their families and their many friends. Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40, and every year 5000 families have to go through the same heartbreak as Andy and Phil's have due to this horrific disease.

On 20th July 2018, we are aiming to complete the National 3 Peaks Challenge in memory of Phil and Andy, and hope to raise a lot of money for Brain Tumour Research along the way! The challenge involves climbing the highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis - 4,409ft), England (Scafell Pike - 3,209ft), and Wales (Snowdon - 3,560ft) within 24hrs. With a minimum of 12hrs driving between countries, we will have an average of 4hrs to summit and descend each one (with Scafell Pike tackled partly in the dark due to its early start).

We hope that us tackling this considerable challenge will encourage you to donate generously to an even bigger one - finding a cure for brain cancer!

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
