Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit The Pip Foundation Just Giving page.  We are Jim and Marie Mcmanus, the parents of Pip Mcmanus.

Our beautiful daughter Pip took her own life on December 9th 2015 when she was just 15 years old. The tear in the thread of our family will never be mended. Pip spent her last 3 years fighting against anorexia nervosa, malnutrition, depression and self-harm. We do not want Pip’s life and suffering to have been in vain. Whenever she was able, she tried to help others suffering from similar conditions and we are hoping to continue her good work through Pip's Place Online.

Our goal is to help those affected by eating disorders so that no-one else has to go through what Pip - and we, her family and friends - did.

We are raising funds via our chosen charity, Talk ED (formerly known as Anorexia and Bulimia Care) to provide much-needed support for people affected by these totally devastating illnesses.

The Covid-19 pandemic, lockdowns and restrictions have affected face-to-face services, and the prolonged isolation means that people need support more than ever. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we launched Pip's Place Online in May 2021. Pip's Place Online is run by Talk ED's experienced support staff in Pip's memory, and takes place every Tuesday. It offers 1:1 support via telephone, zoom and online chat, and online peer support groups for people living with an eating disorder, and a separate group for family and friends. This is just the start of Pip's Place Online, and we aim to grow the service and help as many people as possible.

With your help, Pip will never be forgotten. Her memory will live on and her legacy will continue to help the people she tried to help while she was alive.
