Story

In 2012 our daughter Emily was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. Emily has had a challenging time as a teenager with this dreadful illness. She has spent a lot of time in hospital, attending various appointments overnight stays and surgery. Emily is on a cocktail of medication of which has been changed several times to try and induce remission. She battles on regardless and we are so very proud of her achievements so far. She is starting a nursing degree in September as she wishes to care for others.

I was lucky enough to gain a ballot place for London and so my training started at the beginning of January. I continued my usual evening runs during the week with RRR and started my longer cold wet early 6-7am starts every weekend. I've also had lots of support from my best pals at RRR joining me on long runs Stacey, Tracey, Nefa to name a few. Thank you ladies xx My training runs can be viewed at https://www.strava.com/athletes/3786551?hl=en-GB

Paul gained a good for age place for London. He has struggled with training due to a knee injury that has held him back so unfortunately he has not ran as much as he hoped for. Still he is carrying on and going for it, although I have no doubt he will run a super fast time 💪

Please help us raise funds for Crohn's and Colitis UK so they can continue to help and support people like my gorgeous M, and many of my friends who are also affected by this condition. This charity is also Royton Road Runners club charity of the year. The club will aim to raise money for this worthy cause through various events in 2017.

Crohn’s and Colitis UK is a national charity in the battle against Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. We are fighting to achieve a better quality of life for the 300,000 people in the UK suffering physically and emotionally from these and other forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Ultimately, we want to find a cure.
