What We Are Doing?

The Run

The plan is to run from Bristol to Plymouth over a distance of 126 miles over a 8 to 10 day period. This will be like completing  just under 5 marathons in potentially 8 days.

The date of the event of the event will be the 6th of March 2010, and and will hopefully be completed on the 16th of March 2010. We are looking to start the run from Ashton Gate Stadium on match day, and will make it in time for the away game at Plymouth on the 16th.

About Help For Heroes

Help for Heroes (H4H) is a British charity launched in September 2007 to help provide better facilities for the wounded British Servicemen and women. It was founded by Bryn Parry, a cartoonist and former member of the Royal Green Jackets, after he visited soldiers at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham. The charity was launched after a meeting with General Sir Francis Richard Dannatt KCB CBE MC, the chief of the General Staff, the professional head of the British Army. H4H has attracted a numberof high profile trustee and patrons and has support for national newspapers in the United Kingdom, such as The Sun and The Sunday Times who made it one of the beneficiaries of their Christmas appeal in 2007, raising a total of £674,000 for H4H.

The message is simple: H4H does not seek to criticise or be political, they simply want to help and to do so by asking everyone to do their bit to raise money. Once that money is raised, they go to the experts in the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force for guidance as to how best to spend it. It is their intention to spend all we raise on the practical, direct support of those wounded in the service of our country since 9/11.

The Proposed Route

At the moment the proposed route is one that involves avoiding major motorways for obvious reasons. The attached route is using A roads and minor roads only.
