Tina's "Triathalon"...

Swim 22 2018 · 22 May 2018 ·
Tina doing a triathalon...? Well, I may have been somewhat artistic in my interpretation of a "triathalon" but please bear with me...I have signed up for the Diabetes SWIM22 which requires me to swim the width of the English Channel (22 miles) between Feb 22 and May 22nd. (I have just realised this post may have been misleading if people don't know swim22! The swim is done in a swimming pool over a period of 3 months, not in the actual channel! My apologies if I hadn't made that clear!). However, I have decided that I would like to make it more challenging and instead would like to swim to France and back again i.e. 44 miles. In addition to this, l will also take into account what distance I also cover by bike and foot during the 3 months, a protracted triathalon if you like (since I am rubbish at running, I will never be able to do a proper one)! As the crow flies, I’m hoping to make it to Spain...
This may seem challenging to some but it's nothing compared to what my young nephew and his family have to deal with every day. Unfortunately in the past few years since he was diagnosed, it has been very difficult to get his blood sugar level under control leading to challenges every single day. Thankfully he has was given a pump a few weeks ago which will reduce the need to have so many injections but getting the pump has not been straight forward. It is vital that more research is done to get a greater understanding of this chronic disease and how to improve the lives of those who have it.
