I am a Gynae Oncology Nurse based at the Royal United Hospital Bath and a specialist Nurse for The Eve Appeal's gynaecological cancer information service - Ask Eve.

On Saturday 28th September, to mark the end of Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month, I will be trekking 25km through the stunning Cotswolds alongside women who have been and are affected by one of the gynae cancers, their loved ones as well as our amazing researchers.

It is such an incredible day, I get to meet some wonderful people, hear their story and share any words of wisdom or support along the way.

As you may already be aware, in the UK 58 women are diagnosed with one of the five gynaecological cancers and 21 women will die. That's 21 mothers, daughters, sisters, wives or partners every day.

Many women wouldn't even have known that there were five types of cancer you can get 'down there' until they or a loved one is diagnosed.

The Eve Appeal is determined to change this by funding ground-breaking research focused on developing effective methods of risk prediction, earlier detection and screening whilst also raising much needed awareness of these cancers and their key signs and symptoms - encouraging open and honest conversations.

My time on Ask Eve is split between speaking to worried women and men about anything gynae-related either over the phone or by email whilst also going out to a number of workplaces to give awareness talks. Alongside the rest of the Eve team we are doing everything we can to reach as many women and men as possible with our vital work - however there is so much more that needs to be done to protect the 21,000 women and their families from the devastating effects of gynaecological cancers.

A donation of £28 could help Ask Eve to continue offering women and her family support over the phone for one hour.
