We will be aiming to cycle 500 miles between us in one working day. That's 100 miles each!!
We would like to raise £1 per mile for Brain Tumour Research and hit our target of raising £500!
Therefore please sponsor and support us today!
Launched in 2009, Brain Tumour Research is committed to funding
sustainable research into brain tumours, the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under the age of 40. It supports the UK’s largest dedicated group of laboratory-based scientists progressing world-class research into brain tumours, to improve treatments, survival rates and quality of life for patients and ultimately find a cure. The Centres of Excellence are based at Queen Mary, University of London; Imperial College; Plymouth University and the University of Portsmouth.
We are the only national charity in the UK dedicated to funding continuous and sustainable scientific research into brain tumours. We are striving to fund a network of seven research centres in the UK whilst challenging the government and larger cancer charities to invest more in brain tumour research.
- In the UK, 16,000
people are diagnosed with a brain tumour each year with more children and
people under the age of 40 dying of a brain tumour than any other cancer
- Up to 40% of all
cancers spread to the brain
- Less than 20% of those diagnosed with a brain tumour
survive beyond five years, compared with a 50% average for all cancers
- 58% of men and women diagnosed with brain cancer die
within a year compared to 5% for breast cancer, 35% for leukaemia and 7% for
- Brain tumours kill more children than leukaemia or any
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer…yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.
Help us fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
