Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm not a runner and so the main reason for undertaking this feat is because of my Nana, Rose. She is now 85 years old and as well as losing her hearing, she is also gradually going blind.
She has recently started to attend the Teesside and District Society for the Blind’s Social Centre and this has given her a new lease of life. A volunteer picks her up from her home and takes her to the social centre, where she can ask for help and support, chat with others in a similar situation and learn practical skills in helping her cope with everyday tasks as her eyesight deteriorates. A volunteer then drives her back home. In addition to the social centre they organise trips out around the region. Each individual who attends the centre pays around £11 a day and this helps towards the cost of running the centre, providing refreshments, lunch and social days out. Apart from this the society depends on voluntary donations. They do a fantastic job, they have really helped my Nana and I know how much she enjoys spending time there. That is why I have decided to challenge myself and hopefully raise funds in the process.
