I am running the 2023 London Marathon to raise money for Versus Arthritis. 

Having been diagnosed with Adult-Onset Still’s Disease, an arthritic auto immune disease, 5 years ago I understand  some of the struggles of dealing with arthritis - particularly when gaining a diagnosis, finding effective medication and understanding the disease which is typically thought to only affect older generations. 

In 2018 I was admitted to hospital with stomach pains that developed into joint pain, fevers, fatigue and weight loss. After 8 weeks in hospital and many tests I was eventually diagnosed and discharged not knowing what recovery looked like. The next 12 months the ‘waiting for the unknown’ and feeling of life  ‘on pause’ became more of a struggle at times than dealing with some of the more obvious symptoms.  Fortunately I was referred to the Nuffield Orthopedic Centre and very quickly onto a treatment and path to recovery. Having gone from not being able to walk 10 metres at times, running a marathon seems like a good fit!

I am grateful for the opportunity to increase awareness and raise money for Versus Arthritis who will aim to help fund research for further treatments and support others affected. Thanks in advance for any donations you can make.
