Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I could jump out of a plane, but that’s just not my style so I’m opting to keep my feet firmly on the ground & hope that they don’t let me down in this challenge.

On December 23rd 2008 my Mum was given a definite diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, this was confirmed after almost a year of her feeling unwell after giving birth to my little sister Molly, she just put it down to having two kids to run around after & not quite as much sleep! Sadly by this point the ‘little monsters’ in her brain had already left her with no feeling in both of her hands & partially sited in her left eye to which she still has both of these symptoms to date.

Being just 4 years old, i was terrified the first time I saw my mum collapse to the ground & not respond, I was convinced she was dying if not already dead. Fast forward 10 years, I now know when Mum collapses I must not run around shouting ‘she’s dead, she’s dead’, instead I take her right hand as she has slightly more feeling in this one & ask her to squeeze it if she can hear me, she usually does & I then wait patiently for her eyes to open which can take anything up to 20 minutes. I tend to eat her sweet supply whilst I’m waiting as it’s one of the few times she’s quiet & can’t tell me not to!

Mum has to take over 30 tablets every day just to stand up straight & some days even that doesn’t work & she has to admit defeat but she never does so without a good fight & she fights every day. That’s why I want to push my body for 10 days so that I can fight alongside her, I’ve also roped my dad in to running with me & he was more than willing to be involved, thanks dad!

I’d love to see a cure for MS in my lifetime so that my Mum along with all the other sufferers don’t have to suffer any longer. Please donate & help find a cure.

Even better, feel free to join in the runs with us, share the page or set up your own. Contact anyone of us for details.

Thanks for taking the time to read my story.
