Having run my first and only marathon in April 2018, I could not believe it when I received a letter in the post in October 2018 telling me that I had been successful in obtaining a place in the 2019 London Marathon!  I spent the next few weeks deliberating over which charity I might like to fundraise for.  I settled on Friend In Need as I have seen first hand how they provide a fantastic service for older people and their carers in my local community - including an activity centre (which is dementia friendly), a shopping scheme, a befriending scheme, benefit advice, exercise classes and hobby groups.
