Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the Wacky Maces’ JustGiving page.

With memories of the 2015 RedBull Soapbox race fading, we decided we needed to up the stakes and take on an altogether tougher, more extreme challenge!

The Event

We start in a desert. In Rajasthan. India.

Having already travelled 5000 miles to get to the start line we will be handed the keys to a Mahindra Jeep – think LandRover Defender with none of the engineering prowess or off-roading ability. In fact, they’re pretty lacking on-road too!

Our 1800km (not including getting lost once or twice), self-funded
journey will see us navigating desert dunes, underdeveloped highways, wandering pedestrians and wildlife, and a zillion bicycles, rickshaws, minvans and Tata Nano's!  Over 10 days, we will navigate our way south, stopping each night at whatever crazy location the organisers have chosen. What happens if we break down en route? We fix the vehicle ourselves of course!

Oh, and we have to do it all in fancy dress. Just, because.

Let's rewind: The Dumball is not a race. There are no prizes for first place. It’s a charity car rally, an extreme driving challenge for people that know very little about cars, and the odd person that does. A challenge in which we raise money for a great cause: the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The challenge runs from the 13th to the 22nd of January 2017.

7 YOUNG PEOPLE ARE DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER EVERY DAY IN THE UK

On a serious note, since it's inception a decade ago the Dumball Rally has raised over £650,000 for teenagers who suffer from Cancer. Help us to help them hit their target of £1 million next year to carry on the amazing work that TCT do to support young people diagnosed with Cancer.

Mace Foundation has a partnership with the Teenage Cancer Trust and previous events and challenges have highlighted the excellent work that Teenage Cancer Trust do to provide support and world class cancer care services in the UK to young people and their families.

See the contribution that Dumball have made to TCT and one of their patients: https://vimeo.com/184027609/4b19ebde1a

We are raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust so that they can continue their good work, inspire other young people living life with cancer and work towards their goal of helping every young person that needs them from the moment they are diagnosed. It is a hugely worthwhile cause and anything you donate will be much appreciated!!

And if you need any further incentive to donate …

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

We have self funded the entire trip so everything you donate goes to the charity!
