I have been an Admiral Nurse for the past 4 years and have seen first hand the need for specialist clinical support for families affected by dementia .

There are only 180 Admiral Nurses in the country for the 850,000 families affected by dementia .

I want to raise awareness and funds to support Dementia UK to increase the number of Admiral Nurses so more families get the specialist help they need and deserve .

I am going to find this hard as I am an overweight middle aged woman who last ran a marathon in 1996 and I wasn't that fit then !!!

This personal challenge is nothing compared to the challenges faced by people with dementia and their families everyday . For me there is an end point the finishing line but for those families affected by dementia they don't know how far the distance is and where and when the finishing line will be !
