Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
At school, we were studying the book, The Islands at the End of Everything. It was a very good book and the main character's mother had leprosy. Then, at the end, our teacher decided to take us to the Leprosy Mission webpage, and educate us about leprosy. Then, she asked us to make posters about understanding leprosy. When I went home, I was inspired by the work of the Leprosy Mission and decided to do something to help them as they are totally awesome. I have been ice skating for about a year now, and I can go pretty quickly, so I decided I could do a five-hour long ice skate at my local rink, which is the longest session of free skating that they run. I already am part of Planet Ice's Learn to Skate programme, and I play hockey at Stick 'n; Puck, which is a non-contact ice hockey session run on a Monday for under 18s. I plan to skate non-stop, with a five-minute comfort break every hour. I hope to raise over £100 in sponsorship money.
The Leprosy Mission’s Heal Nepal campaign will find, cure and heal people with leprosy in a bid to rid Nepal of this ancient disease and its consequences. This means reaching people with leprosy through outreach teams before they develop permanent disabilities or caring for them for months at The Leprosy Mission’s Anandaban Hospital while their wounds heal and they undergo life-changing surgery.
All donations made to Heal Nepal before 27 April will be doubled by the UK government.
