Story
On Saturday 10th March in the early hours, members and supporters of Alvanley Cricket Club will be donning walking boots and embarking on a big fundraiser.
We have over 30 participants taking part in the Alvanley CC Fundraising Sandstone Trail Walk.
We have people taking part across various distances.
Whitchurch to Alvanley CC - 34 miles
Bickerton Church to Alvanley CC - 26 miles
Beeston Castle to Alvanley CC - 17 miles
Grestys Waste to Alvanley CC - 7 miles
The Club has relied now for many years on a tractor to pull gang mowers in order to cut the outfield. This has led to the outfield becoming more uneven as the ground becomes rutted. The outfield is used extensively throughout the Summer hosting over 150 children from local communities, providing qualified coaching and age group matches from Under 7's to Under 15's.
The Club is set in the stunning surrounds of the Cheshire countryside. Alvanley CC 1st XI currently play in the Cheshire County Cricket League and compete in the National Village Knockout. In total we have over 250 members, there are three senior teams that play over the weekend and nine junior teams that play over the week.
In 2013, the Club raised £5000 for three Club projects when 31 walkers completed Moel Famau to Alvanley Cricket Club. It would be great to raise even more.
Any amount you can give will be hugely appreciated and will inspire everyone taking part, especially the 34 milers! To keep on walking to the end back at Alvanley Cricket Club.
