In 2015 the earthquakes in Nepal destroyed more than 35,000 classrooms which left more than 1 million children without a school to return to. 900,000 homes were destroyed and thousands more were left badly damaged, forcing many children to live and study in sub-standard shelters.

The poor learning environment makes it very difficult for children to get a good quality education. A significant number of children are also experiencing severe anxieties after losing their homes, their families and their stability.

Rebuilding the schools in Nepal will help give children the education and protection that they need. Schools are central to child protection: children who aren’t in school are at increased risk of exploitation, trafficking and child marriage.

Given the educational opportunities afforded to me and the significance this has played in my life, I am compelled to help beyond a traditional donation. Hopefully, with your help, I will be travelling to Nepal in October 2017 in partnership with ActionAid to help rebuild a school in the Kathmandu Valley.

But I can't do it alone. To take on such a challenge I have committed to ActionAid that I will raise a minimum of £3000 and so I have set up this Just Giving page to aid in the mission.
