As a family we have all witnessed and felt the effects of Alzheimer’s and dementia. I only remember my Great Grandma with dementia and then both grandmothers lived with it too, passing away in recent years. This meant that Thomas and William have seen first hand, even at their young age, how dementia can change someone.

Working, as I do, in a dementia care home, I am reminded daily how cruel the disease can be, for the individual but also family and friends. Loved ones lose the person they have grown up with, or known for years; change, slowly change, into someone they are less familiar with.

Therefore, we have decided to get 'Active for Alzheimer's' setting ourselves individual challenges to meet throughout the month of June, to raise awareness and donations for Alzheimer’s Research UK. The more we raise, the more research can be carried out in the hope that, in time, less of us will have to encounter this heart breaking disease.

Please support us to reach our targets by sharing our page, telling your friends and family, donating if you can (we know it’s a very difficult time, in so many ways at the moment).

Our targets, to reach between now and 30^th June, are:

• Thomas will cycle 200 km
• William will run 50 km
• Donna will run 100 km
• Neill will cycle 500 km
