This year myself and close family and friends will be doing various races and events to raise awareness for Epilepsy research uk, as not enough people are aware of the different forms and seriousness of the illness itself. We are doing this in memory of My Amazing Mum who we sadly lost in November due to Epilepsy. My mum had epilepsy from 17 years of age, but still lived a normal life, worked, went on nights out as a young woman, married, had 3 children, went on holidays, took us on day trips. Epilepsy never ruled my mums life, if anything my brothers and I went on more day trips during school holidays then most of our friends with mums who had cars. My mum was a very private person so no one other than family/ close friends of my mums knew she had epilepsy. As young children we were taught what to do if my mum had a seizure, from the age of 2 my older brother learnt how to call my Grandad to come over as my mum had colour coded the phone on each number, and my dad worked away so it was important we knew what to do in emergencies. As we grew older we learnt how to cope on our own if mum had a seizure. My older brother would put mum in the recovery position whilst my younger brother and I would help pass him pillows ect for mum then help her to the sofa/bed once she'd come around. She was the most amazing and strong woman I knew, who helped me become the woman and mum that I am. So that's just parts of my mums life living with epilepsy that I wanted to share with you to make you all aware of how many people out there are in my mums position, with or with out children, suffering with epilepsy and can be helped or cured so people don't lose them like we've lost our Mum , Nanna, Wife , Daughter , Sister and auntie  💔 Please please donate to Epilepsy Research UK .
