Story
5 years ago, I had the privilege of spending a month with the beautiful girls, caregivers and teachers at the Rosie May Home in Sri Lanka. I got to know about RMH through Graham, my then-colleague and also father of the late Rosie May. Listening to Graham recall the tragedy and then go on to speak of the work he and Mary are doing in Sri Lanka, coupled with the time I spent and lessons I learnt from all the RMH girls, teachers and caregivers continue to live in my heart and have forever altered the way I look at life and the world.
Amidst the struggles that the world is facing with the pandemic, I thought it’d be good for my heart to direct my energy towards people I care about. So I’m going to try and run 41kms the week I turn 41 and raise funds towards the RMH girls. Please give generously as you’re able and/or run alongside if running is your thing - it’d be so encouraging to know we are doing this together ◡̈
I raised £6000 5 years ago baking granola bars and cookies before embarking on my time in Sri Lanka. This sum went towards sponsoring 20 girls for a year! This year, I’m looking to run for the purpose of sponsoring 10 girls. For more details on how funds are used, please visit the RMH site: https://www.rosie-may.com/sponsor-a-child/
