Story
NHS staff, and other key workers in social care, are working tirelessly to treat, care and protect the those ill and at risk of the Corvid-19 virus outbreak. They are doing an amazing job going above and beyond the call of duty. The make personal sacrifices everyday, such as self isolation from their own families, to ensure their loved ones are safe and well. They work around the clock, day in and day out, treating the people in their care. Keeping the vulnerable, including those with an underlying health condition, shielded and safe whilst they are social distanced from their family and friends.
Staff at Millfield House - Post 19, a secure home for young adult's with severe learning disabilities and autism, we have been discussing ways to show their appreciation for the ongoing hard work by the NHS and social care key workers who are treating those most poorly and shielding those most at risk.
As a team at Millfield we have come up with a way to raise money. Most the men at Millfield and one Woman(!) are taking up the challenge to shave their hair of and/or wax their legs. We are hoping for a total of £200 or more to be raised which would make a significant difference in any hospital setting treating those who are extremely poorly due to the Corvid-19 virus!
We are asking all of our family, friends and anyone else to make a donation to Millfield's Shave Event and help make a difference in the NHS through a contribution to the NHS Charities Together who make donation to the value of 1 million every day.
Millfield's Shave Event will take place at Millfield House - Post 19, on Tuesday 5th May 2020 at 09:00a.m at the start of the shift. As Millfield House is a secure home this is not a public event, but Millfield - House Post 19 will provide updates and photographic proof of the shearing fun through its Facebook, Grantham Journal paper and Just Giving pages.
