Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.

I was due to do this Abseil 2 years ago, to celebrate my  70th Birthday and raise funds for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, but replacement hip surgery happened instead! So now, on Sunday 23rd August  2020 at 2pm, (My 72nd Birthday!) I will be Abseiling Spinnaker Tower in aid of the same Charity.

Why Hearing Dogs I hear you say? Well, I have been a volunteer for 5 years, and they are a Charity close to my heart, who receive no Central Government funding, so different ways have to be found to raise finances. Many of us during these last few months of Lockdown have to a lesser or greater degree experienced feeling lonely, a little anxious on occasions, and that feeling of being cut off from family and friends. All of these situations are experienced on a daily basis by people who are deaf. The Charity,  Hearing Dogs for Deaf people believe that no one with deafness should feel alone. So they train dogs that help deaf people live their lives to the full.

Dogs offer constant companionship and friendship, they provide safety and security by alerting deaf people to life-saving sounds like smoke alarms, and other important sounds such as baby monitors and oven timers. A life changing combination.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People help people reconnect with life, with a new sense of independence, confidence, freedom and a loyal companion for life.

I'm very willing to abseil, would you consider sponsoring me?

Thanking you in anticipation?

Agnes / Ags
