Alan's Kiltwalk fundraiser for Age Scotland

Alan Gow is raising money for Age Scotland

Edinburgh Kiltwalk 2026 · 13 September 2026 ·

We are the Scottish charity for older people. We work to improve the lives of people over the age of 50 in Scotland. We stand with and support people in Scotland so that they can grow older with security, are valued and connected and have a good quality of life.

Story

Age Scotland is the Scottish charity for older people. Through my work, I've been fortunate to work with, and be supported by, so many extraordinary colleagues at Age Scotland over the years.

I've witnessed firsthand the passion and commitment Age Scotland has for improving the lives of older people in Scotland. Last year, colleagues at Heriot-Watt completed the Kelpie climb and abseil and raised over £1,700!

This year, we’re going the extra mile…21 to be exact! We’re walking 21 miles in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk to support Age Scotland’s ongoing fundraising efforts.

£150 would cover the cost of about 30 phone calls to Age Scotland's friendship line, a free helpline providing impartial and confidential information to older people, their carers and families.

"This service gave me hope. They listen to you, and they don't judge you. The calls always make me feel less alone", Helen, helpline caller.

Funding is vital as Age Scotland strives to improve lives via their helpline, as well as supporting older people’s groups, promoting age and dementia-friendly communities, delivering wellbeing programmes, and campaigning on behalf of older people.

Any donation will directly support this work and more. Thank you.
