Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

My sister and I, along with a number of other family members, are planning to climb our first ever Munro, Ben Vorlich (Loch Lomond) on Saturday the 19th August in memory of our dad, Alan Leonard.

We have chosen this particular Munro as it was the first Munro Stephanie and I had planned to climb with our dad. So in his honour, we plan to go ahead with the walk, supported by all his family and friends, and raise money for a cause very close to our hearts, Tayside Mountain Rescue.

No one wants to think the worst case scenario when they’re enjoying the outdoors. But it’s surprising how many people end up in circumstances where they need the help of Mountain Rescue - unfortunately we know that all too well. We will be forever grateful to the team at Tayside for finding our dad and bringing him home.

It is so important to remember that the team at Tayside Mountain Rescue do the job because they choose to, in all weather, all terrain, at all hours and don't get paid for it. These guys are all volunteers who are on call 24/7, 365 days a year. They give up their time, precious time with their nearest and dearest, and their social lives, to save the lives of people in Tayside. But they can’t do it without the correct training, tools and equipment. Every penny donated helps to pay for that; please give generously so that they can continue to carry out the amazing work they do.

About the charity

The main activities of the charity are search and rescue of missing or injured persons in the hills of Tayside Region and beyond, the provision of training and equipment for the mountain rescue team members and the raising of funds to support such activities.
