UPDATE: I ran this bad boy just over a week ago and I'm still alive to tell the tale! I was really pleased with my time of 1:44:54 which is 30 minutes under the initial estimate I gave when signing up. I'm not quite ready to enlist in a marathon yet but it's quite an encouraging sign if ever I have that crazy urge :)
Hello!
So yeah, after a lot of talk and no action I've finally signed up to participate in a Half Marathon! Apart from the more basic goal of not dying and making it to the end, I thought I should try and raise some money for a good cause.
I chose the Alzheimer's Society because I have experienced the effects of Alzheimer's Disease within my own family, so it's a cause that means a lot to me. It is an illness that is increasingly prevalent and relevant; I'm sure some of you have also witnessed it's devastating consequences. The Alzheimer's Society is important in providing support and care to individuals suffering from AD and their families as well as funding research to develop new treatments and care strategies.
You can read more about them and where your money will end up, here:

I guess all that's left to say is: Please sponsor me!
Also, if any of you fancy coming along to delight in the majestic beauty of the Wolverhampton-Birmingham countryside and wrap me in one of those big silver blankets or feed me cake at the end, t'would be much appreciated!
Thanks for your support :)
Love, Aleks x
