Story
My name is Jaber Abubaker and I am raising money for our small, family-run charity which was set up in memory of my big brother Yusef, who passed away suddenly in 2007 at the age of 12 from a sudden cardiac arrythmia.
Yusef was a very kind and charitable boy who loved helping others. Following his passing, my family set up the Yusef Abubaker Memorial Trust in order to continue helping others in Yusef's name.
To date, we have completed many humanitarian projects, both locally and around the world. Local projects have included sponsoring local sports teams and providing strips and equipment, providing books and educational materials for local schools, sponsoring school prizes for educational attainment, as well as many other things. Larger-scale projects have included building water wells in remote and disadvantaged regions, transporting vital medical and humanitarian aid to active warzones including Libya, Syria and Palestine, building two libraries in remote, Nepalese, village communities, and providing books and lessons in reading and writing, among other things. The charity is completely non-profit and all fundraising is completely voluntary.
On the 24th September 2022 - exactly 15 years to the day since Yusef passed away - I will take part in a 12km obstacle race called the Beast Race to raise money for the charity. The money raised from this Beast Run will be used to provide educational materials for local schools in Dundee. Please show your support in any way you can and help us help others in Yusef's memory.
Thank you,
Jaber Abubaker
