Story

My beautiful, brave daughter,Poppy Wadsworth.poppy is a funny, happy 8 year old girl, who loves dressing up for a party or wearing fancy dress ?she loves all the Disney princesses, stickers, nail varnish, art, singing and dancing and anything pink.

Poppy also has a congenital birth condition called cloaca.

What is cloaca you ask?

Well, it's a little word for a really big problem, cloaca anomalies occur in 1 per 50,000 live births. They occur exclusively in girls and comprise the most complex defect in the spectrum of anorectal malformations. Cloaca is defined as a confluence of the rectum, vagina, and urethra into a single common channel.this defect is one of the most formidable technical challenges in paediatric surgery. The goals of treatment include an anatomic reconstruction and achieving bowel and urinary control, as well as normal sexual function.basically speaking, poppy was born without an anal opening, her waste is taken from her body by a bag. Her one functioning kidney doesn't work properly and she is permanently changing antibiotics to try to fight infections in her kidneys and urethra. She has some sort of womb, but no vagina. Poppy has had a stoma bag since birth . This is the most outward sign of Poppy's condition. her first day on earth was spent in an operating theatre and she's continually been in surgery since, her amazing surgeons have done so much for poppy to try to make her life as [ normal] as possible, but they can do no more.  Poppy sometimes gets a hard time at school because she smells if the stoma bag gets knocked and a smell escapes, but she can't help it and kids can't help being kids .

Please help poppy Wadsworth get a normal life. Surgeons in America, in conjunction with leeds general infirmary and charm charity ( a charity for children with ano rectal malformations) have agreed to fund 50% because poppy is such an extreme case been seen, they will be using her case for research for other little girls that may be suffering with this condition.   But, and it's a big but, we have to find the other 50% of the cost.               I need to raise £50,000 to get poppy to America to undergo the surgery that will make her life  normal              Be able to go to the toilet  with help of a ace button wear what she likes without having to worry about the stoma bag and end the pain she has everyday.                 Please help, any donation, however small will be gratefully received.                                                                   thank you for taking the time to read about my daughter poppy
