Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Rusabya Village is in Biharamulo District in Tanzania with a population of around 5000 individuals. Very recently a violent storm caused severe damage to the local primary school with roofing ripped off classrooms and extensive damage to the toilets. There has also been extensive damage to houses and the storm has destroyed many crops growing in the fields.

Eleanor Foundation has worked within this community since 2016 having provided two shallow wells, solar lights and agricultural improvements. The objective is to build new toilets with hand washing facilities and also provide roofing sheets for the classrooms. The school cannot reopen until this work is done.

The primary school is a hugely important part of the community. It was established back in 1956 and currently has some 900 pupils.

About the charity

The Eleanor Foundation was formed in 2012 in memory of International Development student Eleanor Carey who was killed whilst cycling in London in December 2011. Her ambition was to work towards providing sustainable futures for communities and the objective of the foundation is to achieve this aim.
