In 2009, I was involved in a Life changing Motorcycle road traffic collision whilst attending a call on blue lights as a Police Officer.

Thames Valley Air Ambulance attended the roadside and worked on me for over an hour resuscitating me and using defibrillators twice.  I was air lifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital where I spent a week in an induced coma in Intensive Care and a further 8 weeks in the Trauma ward.  It is thanks to their amazing professionalism and skill that I am here today.  

I suffered Life Changing injuries to the right side of my body that are too many to list but include spinal fractures, open breaks to my leg, collapsed lung, shattered right knee.  

I have undergone 21 operations over the last 10 years including a complex total knee replacement, but I am here today because of the amazing work of the people that took care of me.

I am going to mark this Anniversary by walking 21 miles (for 21 Operations) along the Thames River Path on the 14th September 2019. The walk will be from Caversham (in Reading) to RAF Benson in Oxfordshire to raise money for Thames Valley Air Ambulance.  This life saving service is funded entirely by donations and receives no government, NHS or Lottery Funding
