Next year I have set myself two rather large challenges that are going to push my body and mind to the limit. Starting from the new year I am in training for the Silverstone Half Marathon, a challenge that should get me fit enough to scale the 5,895 metre Mount Kilimanjaro in September 2015.
Not only is Kilimanjaro the highest peak on the African continent, it is also the tallest free-standing mountain in the world. The 10 day trek to the summit will consist of high elevation, low temperature and occasional high winds making it a difficult and dangerous trek. So for those of you who are thinking, why does she want sponsorship money for a 10 day holiday to Africa, I can assure you this is one of the hardest things that I have ever done, not to mention the altitude sickness that may arise on way up; shortage of breath, headaches, dizziness, exhaustion, sickness, to name but a few...why am I doing this again?!
...I want to raise as much money as possible for Children With Cancer UK. Around 2,400 children and teenagers are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK. Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children's charity dedicated to the fight against all childhood cancers.
Every donation whether big or small will help make a difference in the fight against Children's Cancer and give those children who are suffering from this terrible disease the childhood they deserve. I really appreciate all your support and thank you in advance.
