Story
Save the Children helped 10 million children in 2012, all over the world. Now more than ever children need our help, even in a developed Country such as our own.
Growing up in poverty can dramatically affect a child’s life chances. At every stage of schooling, the poorest children do worse than their better off classmates.
A pupil on free school meals is only a third as likely to succeed at every key stage at school compared to their better off classmates. The gap in development starts to emerge between children as early as age 22 months.
Working with young people, this is something I am passionate about changing. I also worked for Save the Children in Newcastle and saw first hand the devestating affects of war on young unaccompanied refugees in the city.
From every £1 you give Save the Children they spend 88p to benefit children - 11p to raise the next £1, and the other penny goes on governance and other costs.
Approximately 25,000 people attempt to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro annually. Approximately two-thirds are successful. Altitude-related problems are the most common reason climbers have to turn back.
This is a HUGE challenge for me - please help me get up this bloody big hill!
Thank you so much,
