Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So about 2 years ago I went to my GP with blood in my poo, they dismissed it and said it was simply piles without doing much investigating. I stressed how my Grandad died of bowel cancer and I wanted a signoidoscopy (camera scan), but they said I was to young and brushed it off.
So.... in November/ December 17 over two harrowing espisodes, I lost about 10 pints of blood resulting in being in and out of hospital, blood transfusions and almost dieing from it all.
They then took it more seriously and decided I needed a signoidoscopy. They picked up straight away that I had a 6cm cancer tumour in my bowel. In January this tumour had perforated my bowel which resulted in a life threatening emergency operation.
Thankfully the surgeons and nurses did an amazing job saving my life.
Sadly though, if the GP's didn't look at my age, then perhaps my story wouldn't have been so serious and I wouldn't be sat here with stage 3 cancer, recovering from a chemo session.
So GP's just think this is someone's life....and you out there, don't trust the GP's diagnosis, trust the instincts of your own body and don't be afraid to push with your worries!
