Coming out, or being outed as LGBTQ+ can lead to young people being made homeless. This is the reality for 77% of the young people akt supports. We proudly offer safe homes and better futures for LGBTQ+ people aged 16-25.

Story

For some ridiculous reason we've decided to take part in our first 10k, having never done much more than run down the hill to the pub in the past. However, we are actually doing vague training in the hopes that we make it a little further this time!!

Whilst this specific race is aimed towards raising awareness of organ donation, we've decided to also raise money for The Albert Kennedy Trust at the same time, because there's every chance we'll renounce all love of running afterwards and never make it to a race again.

On a serious note, whilst it's extremely important to raise awareness of organ donation, we believe that it's also incredibly important to support smaller charities. The Albert Kennedy Trust have been working with young homeless and vulnerable LGBT+ youth since 1989, and since 24% of homeless youth identify as LGBT+ it's more important than ever that they receive adequate support. They do a lot of work in the North of England, and as students in the North East/quite blatantly very northern LGBT+ people we think it's a super important charity to support.

Cheers for reading, even if you just give £1 it'll make all the difference to getting to our target!
