Story

If you know me at all, you'll know that I'm a fairly sedentary beast by nature.  My idea of working hard either involves typing really fast (see those fingers fly!) or having a good stretch and then curling up with a good book -- sometimes even quite a heavy one -- and turning the pages as quickly as I can (oh, the exertion).  In the words of my  little L, "Mummy, your superpower is ABC" -- and it's certainly not anything more active than that.

This January, though, I'm dragging my ever-widening bottom off the sofa and digging out my walking boots from the shed.

I'm going to be walking *100 miles* in January -- not all at once, mind you, but in total -- and the miles will slip past a whole lot easier (I hope!) if I know that you lovely people have sponsored me.

I've been working with Carers in Bedfordshire now for about 18 months -- and I'm regularly blown away by the services they provide and, less happily, by the level and range of need they encounter.  Unpaid family carers are flippin' *everywhere* and they're caring 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Those who work out such things reckon that 3 in 5 -- yup, you read that right -- people in the UK will become a carer at some point in their lives.  3 in 5.

Can you spare a tenner?

Thank you.  You're a star.  No, really.  A star.
