Story
I am running a series of races to raise money for The Sick Kids Friends Foundation; a charity for which I hold a great deal of respect, for the support given to me and my family during my daughter Caitlin's stay in the Sick Kids Hospital in Edinburgh. I have a paid Sick Kids charity place specifically for the EMF Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2015 (10k) race.
My wife Claire and I were given top quality care from all the nurses, doctors and received great support from The Sick Kids Friends Foundation in providing meal vouchers, parking permits, and accommodation.
Caitlin spending the first 5 weeks of her life in hospital was a huge stress to all of our family. We are now happily home with Caitlin and enjoying family life with her and big sister Beth, but unfortunately some families are not as lucky as we are.
There are many families from all over Scotland, whose child has to be transferred to Edinburgh for lengthy on-going treatment for their illness/injury. This means they are likely far away from their extended family including other children for sometimes months at a time; for them, The Sick Kids Friends Foundation really makes a difference.
To thank The Sick Kids Friends Foundation for all their support, as well as assist in providing on-going support to future families and patients, I ask you to pledge some money to this charity. My aim is to raise £150.00. As an example, for £3.00 only, the Sick Kids Friends Foundation can provide accommodation for a family for one night while their child is in intensive care, so literally every little helps.
The following races/events are on my upcoming running schedule, and I may add more as they become available:
- Great Scottish Run 2014 (0:47:24)🏃
