We care for newborn and premature babies to give new babies state-of-the-art care

Story

This year is my 15th consecutive Great North Run.

On 10th February 2017 we welcomed our little boy into the world, however unfortunately we experienced a number of complications which meant Alfie spending his first few days in Neonatel care at the Derby Royal Hospital. Although a reasonably short stay of 3 days we have been touched by the magnificent work the nurses do on a day to day basis and are for ever grateful for there care and dedication in ensuring Alfie has the best start to life as possible. Until you experience what happens in this unit (and many do) it is extremely difficult to understand the work they do.

The Friends of the Baby Unit was established 47 years ago (1976) to raise money for equipment for use in the intensive care of preterm and sick newborn babies being cared for on the Neonatal unit at The Royal Derby Hospital. The money raised over that time is now over £2 million pounds. Thank you
