On 11th September 2010 I completed the most physically challenging thing I've ever done: 55 miles (89km) from Trentham to Liverpool in a single 19h walk. That was to raise money for a cause that really mattered to me and, exactly 10 years later, I'd like to do something similar.
Since dropping out of university when I was 18, having someone to talk to during tough moments has been one of the things I've valued the most; that's been the case since my second (successful!) crack at university, right through to the recent challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
You'll probably know that I now work at a university. Young people in education often derive huge benefit from voluntary support services as they navigate a formative and sometimes stressful time in their lives. Nightline wants every student in higher and further education to have access to support services so that:
- Fewer students die by suicide
- Fewer students have their education compromised by emotional difficulties
- Every student is able to talk about their feelings in a safe, non-judgmental environment
Between 11th September 2020 and 11th September 2021 I'm going to travel the distance between Land's End and John O'Groats (1744 kilometres) on foot (running and walking). I'll be tracking this on Strava and my contributing efforts should show up below. You can also see my virtual journey through Britain here (https://www.myvirtualmission.com/user/index/175992).
If you're able to sponsor my effort, I'd really appreciate whatever you're able to give to help me to raise £1,000 to support Nightline's work for young people.
Thank you!
