As some of you may know, this November, I will be running in the New York Marathon.  Hours of early morning and weekend training (and more hours of boring people forcing them to listen about the training) will finally be coming to an end with a 26.2 mile effort.

As this could very well be my last marathon, I would like to use this as an opportunity to raise some much needed money for a cause that is extremely dear to my families' heart.

Back in May 2018 my niece Lola was born unable to breathe due to a rare abnormality of her larynx.  Thanks to the rapid intervention, pioneering cooling therapy and six months of intensive care (including open-heart surgery) that was provided on the Evelina ward at St. Thomas's hospital, Lola is on her way to making a recovery. 

Although Lola currently requires around the clock monitoring by my brother and sister-and-law, we're now looking forward to her tracheostomy coming out and hearing her voice within the next year.

But it's not only the care that is so advanced on the ward, it's also the support they give to families.  The doctors and nurses are right up there as the world's best, furthering the field of new born care with techniques such as Cooling Therapy which saved Lola from brain damage.
