Story
I have experienced progressive muscle wastage in my hands and feet for over 15 years. After many tests and misdiagnosis over the years I have recently been formally diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. The condition damages the peripheral nerves, particularly in the hands and feet, and results in difficulty with walking, balance and fine motor control.
In order to raise money for the Charcot- Marie- Tooth UK Charity and to help further research, I have set myself the challenging task of walking from West Bay to Lyme Regis in Dorset on Saturday 19th September. The walk is 10 miles long over the cliffs and beaches at low tide. I have completed the walk several times before but my condition has progressed quite significantly since my last attempt (not to mention that I am now also a few years older!).
As I think that the walk will be demanding, I am not undertaking it solo and will be accompanied by both my daughters, their respective partners and my 9 year old grandson.
