Story
A huge challenge it may seem but I am now looking forward to completing the Welsh Ironman Triathlon on the 13th September in Tenby, less than a month away! The mammoth task will see me swim 2.4 miles off the north beach in Tenby, followed by a very tough but scenic 112 mile bike ride through the hills of Pembrokeshire with spectacular coastal views and over 2,000 meters of altitude difference. Just to add a bit of a punch, a FULL MARATHON, yes a grueling 26.4 miles to finish off or will that be to finish me off!! This all has to be completed within 17 hours!!
I have been enduring a full on training program to help get me through the challenge which started back in April. The program is 6 days a week, sometimes twice a day which is hard going but it’s getting me fit for a fight.
Of course, I am doing this all for an amazing local charity who continue to support families through the good days and bad days because they believe that when cure is no longer possible, care is. Since 1989, they have given free care and support to more than 23,000 patients and their loved ones during their time of greatest need. They now help more than 2,800 local people every year.
The hospice is part of health services offered to people living in Shropshire, and Wrekin and North Powys but we are not part of the NHS. They are a completely independent charity, having to raise around two-thirds of our running costs. I hope you can help me raise as much as possible please.
