Story

After not signing up to any races since last October, I have decided to bite the bullet and sign up to three ultra marathons in October 2021, with two weeks gap between each of them.

The first is by far the toughest, the North Coast 110.  This is a 110 mile (177km) run across the North Devon coast starting on Friday 1st October at 7am (in 38 hours or less).  With 6000 metres of elevation gain and a 12 hour stint of running in the darkness, this race is brutal.  Last year I took part in this race and did not finish, pulling up injured after completing 102 miles of the 110.  This year I am determined to cross the finish line so am training hard to ensure I do.

Second up, on Saturday 16th October is Run to the Sea.  This is a 50km (31 mile) point to point ultra marathon that goes from Ringwood to Poole along the Castleman Trailway and then along Bournemouth seafront from Sandbanks to Hengistbury Head.  The easiest of the three, this is a moderately flat route which will give me an opportunity to push for a 50km personal best (if I'm not broken from the North Coast 110).

And thirdly, on Sunday 31st October is another 50(ish)km run, the Lulworth Cove Trail Running Challenge.  This is a 52km (32.3 mile) hilly ultra marathon over the Purbeck Hills.  With 2300 metres of elevation gain, this is another tough run but hopefully I'll still have the energy to race this one as hard as I can.

If anybody could donate to this cause, it would go a long way.  Macmillan do fantastic work for people with cancer and any amount that you're able to give to support this and spur me on will be much appreciated.
